Description

Empirical Labs EL7-X Fatso Product Details

"JUNIOR" was yesterday! The new FATSO comes with a new compressor ratio, improved interface and display features, and uncompromising reliability.

The FATSO (Full Analog Tape Simulator and Optimizer) is a digitally controlled analog device that gives musicians and engineers easy access to many of the desirable characteristics of older tube and Class A electronics and magnetic tape media. The two-channel audio processor integrates frequencies and transients musically, increasing apparent loudness while controlling peak levels.

Using the FATSO, recording studios and audio production facilities can enhance and soften the sound of hardware digital recorders (HDRs) and digital audio workstations (DAWs). Audio engineers have the option of no longer having to rely on bulky, expensive analog tape recorders to preserve the warmth and subtle highs they have relied on for many decades. Users of DAWs and HDRs no longer have to deal with the coldness and brittleness of their mixes and instruments. Music lovers can also benefit from the FATSO, as it transfers the warmth and ambience of LPs and tapes to their CD players and other digital playback media.

  • Full Analog Tape Simulator and Optimizer (FATSO) with classic knee compression.
  • New "Eleven" ratio - emulating the popular classic compressor setting
