Ocarinas

The ocarina is a one-piece wind instrument that was developed by the Italian pottery maker Giuseppe Donati. An ocarina is made of different materials, e.g. glazed clay, porcelain, various woods or even plastic or metal.

The name ocarina means “little goose” which can be attributed back to its outer form. Nowadays there are numerous types of ocarinas and different tunings of it, because one instrument cannot play all tone pitches. The simple form with four holes is perfectly suitable for an early musical education.
