Basses 4-String J-Style

The Fender Jazz Bass is a further development of the Precision model and was brought to market by Fender in 1960. Its design is reminiscent to that of the Fender Jazzmaster e-guitar. The Jazz Bass is a true allrounder and offers a broad range of different sounds. Besides the Precision model it is one of the most renowned bass models of all times.

One of the most famous Jazz Bass players is – without a doubt - Jaco Pastorius who redefined the role of the electric bass in modern music with his filigree and expressive playstyle. But there are other great bass players as well that use the Jazz Bass, for instance Marcus Miller, Stu Hamm, John Paul Johnes (Led Zeppelin), Geddy Lee(Rush), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) or Mark Hoppus (Blink 182).

The classic Jazz Bass is built with an alder body and a bolted on maple neck – some versions also feature alternative wood combinations. The pickups used are single coils that allow for multiple switching options. The Jazz Bass offers a solid bass foundation with a clear, defined sound. When the two single coils are switched together they behave like a humbucker and the resulting sound is deemed to be a trademark for this bass.
